Valve bulk-approved many of the 3,400 games still in Greenlight

Valve bulk-approved "many" of the 3,400 games awaiting their fate on Steam Greenlight.

Only those with "insufficient voter data or concerns about the game reported by voters" were not greenlit.

Obviously, Valve didn't want to pay back the $100 submitting fee which goes allegedly to charity to all the developers with games still on Greenlight.

So gamers rejoice, another three thousand high-quality games will hit the Steam platform over the next months. As some are still to be developed they sadly won't make it in time for the Summer Sale.

With the new Steam Direct system Valve goes even the extra mile to ensure the games you buy on Steam aren't infected with malware. "So we have a couple of brief review periods where our team plays each game to check that it is configured correctly, matches the description provided on the store page, and doesn't contain malicious content."

Well, ladies and gentlemen who says Valve doesn't care about Steam users?

Fear not, more games are bound to come: "It's most likely that there will be an initial surge of new submissions and then a new rate somewhat higher than what was coming through Greenlight."

I wasn't against the greenlight system personally. I think real indie developers should be able to publish real games on steam.

But bulk approving games... I think there is probably a lot of crapware/fake games between it, and unfinished games. Because developers rushed their games because greenlight was ending.

I think it would have been better to let greenlight go his natural course for a few weeks/months with its current games while the new system is in place.

It is a pity that closed the Greenlight. I liked to choose something new

I wonder how many asset flips have been bulk-approved.

It will be a while before we notice any effect from the change from Greenlight to Steam Direct. If we notice any effect, positive or negative, at all ...

I'm really curious how the new system will affect (if it will at all) the asset flip games and other "card farming only" type games that seem to have been getting more and more prevalent on Steam.  While I'm sure some of the games that were still in Greenlight will turn out to be great, or at least worthy of being on the store, I also can't imagine that more money-grab games didn't slip through with them.
