Star Wars Jedi could have limb dismemberment, but LucasFilm is against that idea

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has recently shown its graphic luxury and many fans have agreed that it looks pretty good. However, one thing has caught an eye for some - when the main character cuts his opponents with a lightsaber, his lightsaber leaves only a yellow line on them. From the wider lore of the Star Wars franchise we know that the lightsaber does not leave such an effect but cuts the limbs like butter.

Most of the Star Wars series games did not show limb dismemberment, mostly due to technical obstacles. But there were those in which such things were part of the game - for example, The Force Unleashed 2. Star Wars Jedi will set itself here almost diplomaticly. There will be dismemberment of limbs, but only on animal and robotic opponents.

Human opponents are nothing technically demanding, and from Respawn for IGN commented that technical barriers actually do not exist, only that this was not their decision. Namely, LucasFilm, which decides on Star Wars projects on behalf of Disney, has banned dismemberment from being linked to the Star Wars brand. The point of the same is for the next generations to give new hope, not to traumatize them for a lifetime.

However, this does not mean that no one in Star Wars Jedi will lose its finger, hand, arm, leg or head. Lightsaber(s) will cut off limbs, but only in directed scenes - when that makes sense to the action; similar to the movies.
