(3D printing) Autocad hangs when converting a surface to a 3D body.

Hello! Are there people on this forum who work in AutoCAD?
I've been doing modeling for a long time, and about 5 years ago I got my own 3D printer. It so happened that I used to model for myself, or download the finished model. I recently wanted to edit someone else's STL model from thingiverse. I used the online STL to DXF converter on the cadforum website. The resulting DXF file had a triangular mesh with a huge amount of poligon. I just can't work well with such a model. The computer freezes, cannot be converted to a 3D body. Even an ordinary cylinder converted from STL cannot be converted. The computer freezes indefinitely.

Am I doing something wrong? How can I edit such a model without converting to a 3D body?

My PC's current specs:
AMD Ryzen 3900x, RAM 64Gb CL16, video Quadro FX 3800.
Perhaps it's the video card, it is the weak link. But earlier I tried to carry out a similar procedure on a more powerful card at work and again I was in for a failure.
Hopefully this month I will get the RTX 3080 pre-order.

AutoCAD 2000 user here.

Well, this question is random, but it sounds like you likely got a bad download. If possible, if you have Blender, you can use it to convert STL to DXF. You might be able to see if the error persists in the original model if that's the case.

Thanks for the answer. Perhaps this is the case, because I performed all the conversions on only one converter. I will try to convert using Blender.
