In order to fund the game, developers can rely on starting a crowd-funding campaign, finding a publisher, or building community support while in development. Without publisher support, developers generally rely on Internet digital distribution options.
TLDR; just because a developer has a publishing company that does not mean they are not an indie developer!
Ok so many people misuse Indie for size of team but Indie is short for independent. Meaning exactly that if there are others involved its no longer indie. Crowd-funding is just a bunch of individuals so doesn't mean so much but another company helping the team means they are no longer independent they are now partnered with that company.
TLDR; if the developer has any other company relations they aren't independent there for aren't indie!
