Is a 7-Year-Old Alienware Gaming Laptop Still Worth Buying?

  • 130
In 2011 this Alienware M14X gaming laptop would have cost the buyer close to $2000 (£1800). Featuring a quad core processor, Nvidia graphics card and 8GB of ram, the specs may seem pretty mild by todays standards, so how well does it hold up in 2018 and should you buy one considering these older models significantly reduced price tags? Well let's find out! Test Specs: Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU Nvidia GT 555M GPU 8GB DDR3 Memory Thanks for watching :)

It would depend on how much you are paying for it and what you want to play on it. I have it and it still runs great. It runs a lot of my older games, but I am not sure it will play some of the newer AAA games.

I would skip buying it.  A lot has changed in the last seven years, and all electronics have a useful life.  At the minimum, the hard drive is probably close to the end of its mechanical life.

The Nameless One

In short, no.

If you can wait till CES in January, following month will sure to have deals on various models. Always go for the latest tech in the market which can be used for the next couple of years at the least.
