Price difference?

  • -1
Firstly can anyone explain why Australians are paying up to $200 more than our USA friends for SSD's from Dell when adding them to Alienware systems? Oh and why the heck is the Alienware OptX(TM) AW2310 23 Monitor $40 cheaper when added to a laptop package than it is when added to a desktop in the Aussie Dell store? That's just gouging Desktop uses because they need a monitor IMO.

I also just noticed the the Americans can get a 4 year warranty but we can only get 3 years? WTF it's the same product????

Yeah, i bought my Alienware from the US because of the significant price difference.. My laptop would have cost me well over $3500 if i bought it here in Australia, but i paid $1000 less in the US.. Not happy.. But it's just not my Alienware i buy in the US because of the price difference.. I buy my makeup there as well as my designer handbags because its heaps, HEAPS cheaper!!

Did you have to buy an australian power adapter for it and hows the warranty work? I'm assuming dell australia wouldn't fix it if it broke.

Ok well that was a dumb thing to say... Anyway I never even looked at the price differences between the two countries and apparently they are quite drastic.

To make it worse. The Aussie dollar is stronger than the US dollar yet I haven't seen our alienware prices drop at all, which means Dell is getting a even better margin selling to us on top of not giving us as much customisation or equal warranties.

I got a quote from the place you said you brought from in the southeast asian forum. I was able to get a better system for around $1000 less(5000 compared to 6000) but they use fedex for shipping and those guys rip people off when they apply gst and duty taxes. Even assuming they didn't rip me off and applied the taxes correctly the saving isn't much. I would go with them though as the system will be better(2 SSD for starters) but i'm thinking if something breaks I'd have to send it back to the states for fixing under their warranty.
