2013 Alienware Laptops

  • -1
Little is known when the Alienware 14" 17" and 18" laptops will be releasing in Australia/New Zealand. But I must say, reviewing the specs of these laptops have really caught my eye! I'm impressed at how much they can put in these laptops, excluding the design ( dissapointed that they removed the grills on the front ). I guess Alienware are going for the more proffessional style, and throwing away the over the top gaming machine appearance. Which I actually liked, despite it's overwhelming customization options. That's not to say that the new laptops won't have anyway. But why do we buy these laptops? Besides the style, it's performance. And that is something I am Impressed with, basically a portable desktop. (17" / 18" ) Hoping these get released soon in Australia, as I really want to tackle some Total War Rome 2 in addition to some master hacking in Watch_Dogs. The Nvidia chips I believe are 760 and can be upgraded upwards, including 8 GB Ram and the next generation CPU. Which will be interesting considering that the stock model of the original Alienware ran off an AMD, the AMD is now present within the next gen consoles. How ever, so far the specs of the next gen console are looking to be up to par in comparison to high average PC, which isn't bad. What are your thoughts on the new Laptops?

Not bad at all. They didn't even make the same mistake they did on the x51! You can upgrade everything without buying a more expensive model! Success!!!!!! I know some people liked the looks of the old laptops, but i love the lighting on the back of these new ones.

I am in a bit of a dilemma, is the new version of the x51 more powerful than the new Alienware Laptops coming out? I go to Uni so I thought that I can take my laptop there and back for short periods of time, hence why it was my first option. But considering if the x51 is just as powerful, then maybe I should purchase that instead!

Hey all, Just joined tonight as got my NEW 2013 14" and man to say the least this thing is bloody AWESOME. Yeah cost me an arm and a leg as it is the top of the line but wanted something that would last and was solidly built. Am I a gamer ....NO more of a professional user, just got sick of the crap out there that cant do what I require at high power and have all the bells and whistles that I require. One of the main things I liked was the feel of the keys too a good solid feel and the surface of the laptop itself, not a hard plastic(no not into rubber either :)) I had just bought a Clevo top of the line never used it as hated the feel of it but this ....I AM IN LOVE. Performance wise OMG this birdy flies like an eagle and can do everything I chuck at is still wants more. If you can afford it ....GET IT Tez

Am considering taking the plunge and getting one of the m18's - a Laptop grunty enough to replace my desktop is a tempting proposition. However I've noticed you cannot purchase the Haswell 4900 with dual 780m's in New Zealand - you can get them for the 4700 though. Also the advertised SSD options are not available via any configuration. Is this just an issue with the Dell website, or is there a supply issue?

I got mine mid July too! /highfive (During uni break, and 2 weeks before uni started) And I must say, I'm loving my Alienware 14 XD So much powah!! Awesome upgrade from an old 2005 Compaq and a netbook I couldn't use (Atom processor eww). Although I did get the 750gb SATA, I'm going to upgrade it to a SanDisk SSD Extreme SATA3 480gb for about $379, when I get the chance to pick one up in a few weeks (I've installed all my games and stuff, atm I can't be bothered doing that again anytime soon lol) I'm happy I didn't buy the new RazerBlade (2013) too. They're both awesome machines... I really like razer and I have all Razer peripherals, however Alienware had too many more vanity features I liked over a 're-coloured mac book'. I actually saved for several months to buy an Alienware m14x (r2), but was lucky to have the new Alienware 14 in the market when I was ready to buy lol If you have the money, Alienware is worth it.. and if you're on a budget or don't have money, save up and get one! Good luck

Just got myself recently an MX14 with the following specs 14" WLED Full HD (1920 x 1080)-IPS Anti-Glare Panel, 4th Generation Intel Core i7-4700MQ (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz), 16GB RAM, 750GB SATA HDD and Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M with 2GB Dedicated Graphics for $1,698.30 in JB-Hifi. I don't know whether this is a good deal as I only compared it with Macbook retina display with 8GBram and 256GB SSD which I originally want to buy with $1700s price tag.

I got mine in August and i have to say i'm impressed with these machines! They are capable of playing any game i wish such as battlefield 4, call of duty ghosts, skyrim, assassin's creed 4 and MUCH MORE! Eventhough the price is high i recommend this laptop anytime! They gave me a free upgrade to a faster hardrive.

Mate, that is a pretty sweet deal. The same machine at my local JB HIFI is around the $2,000 mark. I would go for it.

I have been using the Alienware 14 for almost a year now and I must say they are built like a tank. Even the fan sounds like its about to go to war! :P

The specs are amazing and I have yet to encounter a game that this laptop can't handle.
