Alienware M14x gets too hot

  • 0
Hi, recently im having this overheating problem, while on gaming my cpu gets up to over 90 degree Celsius, and made the game terribly lag.. i have no idea why this happens so sudden. I have been using this laptop for 1 year before i have this problem. I already cleaned the ventilation and fan, all dusks was cleaned but still overheat. Warranty was expired like 2 months ago.. what a shame, Can anyone suggest me what to do? im thinking of changing the thermal liquid inside, is it a good idea? Thank you very much for your help! cheers =)

yes, changing the thermal paste is a good idea. But most importantly, cleaning the fan and vent isn't enough. Once you take it all apart, you will see a lot of dust trapped in the heatsink. You can try to remove some of it by sticking the plastic extension tube into the fan and blowing some compressed towards the back. This way you will get some dust out, but not all. Still, once you take it apart you might as well repaste, it can only help. Unless you do a terrible job cuz that would cause you to overheat again:P
