Worst part is if ESD damages the part, still works, but becomes flakey in the future or dies sooner. Just need a common ground. Keep one hand on computer chassis and dont static producing clothing. Or get a cheap strap and be able to use both hands. Still a strap requires you to know that the ground its attached to is really grounded otherwise dont bother wearing the strap.
