if you want the fastest internet in Australia, right now is Telstra. Soon though we will get fibre optics, faster net

yeah might have to change to telstra, i got a telstra and tpg exchange 400mtrs from my house

im with optus, its sooooo baddd, i want to stream my video etc. cant do that on a .5mb upload.... telstra is the fastest because its been around the longest, meaning that they dominate the the AU network

yeah alot of my mates are with optus they all say the same fantasy- lol the tpg exchange is like 400meters from my house thats probably why i can get high speeds

Bigpond - the exchange is so far from my house that cable isn't even an option for us. On ADSL2+ I can only get local download speeds of 3mbps, and on a good day maybe 5mb.

Ah distance from the exchange is a ADSL issue not cable. I'm just under 4 km's from my exchange and had to go with cable as ADSL was only getting 0.8mbs. If you can get Foxtel in your area you can get Bigpond cable. If your lucky to live next door to an exchange like Nizmo then you can get basic cable speeds on ADSL for heaps cheaper.
