Never heard of it... But that's nothing compared to Fiber Optic. That will give you up to 1GB connection. And that's the most common in Europe.

NBN is fiber optic. It will achieve speeds up to 1GB once the infrastructure is fully upgraded. Aussies have being stuck on Copper infrastructure for many many years (we have some of the worst internet connections in any western society) I could rant on about why we were held back for so long COUGH* TELSTRA but yes I am my area is getting the NBN by this November and we signed up for the 200mg down 100mg up plan with internode. When my current speed test is Ping - 45 Down- 6.45mg Up- 0.25mg

very nice. But it takes a while to upgrade to fiber optic it's not cheap at all and the servers required are expansive. At least you guys will be ahead of the US and there crappy internet.

All of Australia will be fiber By the year 2018 (99.8% of Australians will have a NBN connection *NBN quote* when there are still people here in Aus that are still on dial up. When our opposing government party say's the NBN is waste of money it makes my blood boil. LAG will become a thing of the past once all of AU is fiber and stick to local severs. But with other upcoming improvements I have heard about involving new technology's even fiber will be crap in a few years when there talking 100GB down speeds its crazy to even think about!

it's not that crazy look how far we have gone in the past 5-10 years alone

The plan at the moment is for 93% to be connected via fibre, and the remaining 7% to be connected via fixed wireless or satellite. (http://www.nbn.gov.au/about-the-nbn/what-is-the-nbn/)

The great thing about fibre is that future speed upgrades will likely only require new equipment to be installed at each end. Researchers have managed to transmit 1tbps over a single fibre in lab conditions .(http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21028095.500-ultrafast-fibre-optics-set-new-speed-record.html)

should have approved sooner so we could all have super fast and cheap internet.

lol, just yesterday, the NBN infrastructure blew out the budget by 3 Billion and 2 years.... not good, not good at all
